Very difficult tactic here that I missed. Burned 2 minutes of time after Nh2 to come up with a plan. Had this 1700 in his heels but missed it:

This game got super crazy... so one of the things I look for in the scotch is the occasional opportunity to split the knights in the middle with my bishop. After that, the game goes bezerk; I initially decline the queen pin in efforts to win the game. At ply #19 (move #36) I did consider h2-h4 but for some reason I thought I could just retreat my rook and somehow get him.. but he almost got away..!

yes... I like to make things more difficult than they need to be.
