Can I call myself a good player at 1660 ?

I get asked how good are you ?

My answer is ~ I'm a reasonable player , when can I say I'm a good player ?

Anney :)
Thanks Checkbaite , I'll never reach that level so best I just call myself a player then .
It depends on who you compare yourself with. 1600 is probably better than 90% of the world. 2400 is probably better than something like 99%. But compared to Magnus Carlsen I am a twat.
It depends on who you count as chess player, players who know the rules, or actually active players?
If you count players who are active you can take a look at your better-than-% e.g. in lichess stats.
Better than 90% you are with 2000 in lichess blitz, in the top percent you are with 2400+.

Now it might be that you're not very good at blitz (e.g. I am not :D) then you can of course look at classical or so.

On a side note, I said that before but could we please get an long time control rating category? With something like 30min+. Playing with one hour is very different than 8 minutes which already counts as classical (which should be rapid if at all).
I remember reading somewhere that the average tournament chess player is around 1500. But that's otb elo...
So I'd say you're an average player.

When can you say you're good? Hard to say...Like FM lovlas said it's kinda relative.
When does a piano player become good...
I am thinking that around 2000 you can call yourself "good".
1900 fide is very decent in my opinion and I would accept that as being "good" in club situations. There are the mortal (<1800), the grey (1800-1900), the good (1900-2200) and the gods (>2200).
If people outside chess ask I would say 1700 could also be considered "good".
Im 2300 in classical, but i dont think i play good. No, i play afwully, incredibly awfully. My games, its like disaster sometimes
