Feature request: Look for an opponent within a range of your own rating

Basically, my blitz and classical ratings are significantly different, and I want to be able to set my 'rating range' to be within some boundary of my own range.

For example, I'm fine with playing a 1500 player at blitz, because that's close to my own rating, but not at classical, and I don't want to have to change it every time.

It's a hard thing to search for, but is there a reason we can't set our 'rating range' as +/- 100 points of our own rating, (or preferably +x, -y) for example?
if you hover over PLAY in the top menu, then click CREATE GAME, a window pops up which allows you to use a slider to set the rating range among other parameters.
@Lupy
From what you're saying, it sounds like you mean having something in the preferences section like:

"I want to play people that are no less than -___ my rating and no more than +___ my rating", but having it automatically apply regardless of if you're 1100 Blitz or 2100 Classical?
Good suggestion. I'd like that, too.
(Now I remember: When I moved from ChessCube to Lichess, that was a thing that I first found annoying here - just because I was accustomed to what @Lupy suggests ...)
I agree this would be an improvement.

(Does anybody pay attention to the suggestions on this board?)
Of course they do. The admins/programmers do not miss a beat.

If you scroll back just 6 months, you'll find about 150 separate good suggestions, every bit as good as this one, that at least a few people agree would be an improvement.

The challenges are:

1. Programming the improvements, assuming that they're actually possible.

2. Doing it in a way that doesn't clutter and confuse and turn the crisp nature of the site into a mess of all kinds of extras and features that hardly anyone uses.

3. Discovering a way that won't tangle the coding. I am not a coder. But I can imagine that if they gave a full fledged explanation as to the challenges involved with most of these changes, it would be 3 pages of language that nobody understands, ending with, "You'll have to trust us that we're doing our best."

4. If the admins/programmers aren't posting yet, it's probably because they're taking time to consider and discuss the change. Consider it a good sign. If it was a flat-out "no", they would have said so.

5. If you are a coder, drop Lichess your resume, it's possible that they could use the help.
What if you want to play someone out of your rating range? I play higher rated opponents all the time, it's one of the best ways to learn imo.
@Onyx_Chess
Of course that is hard work. None of all these suggestions are "must-haves". I just think, such issues can be mentioned; and if one of the coders thinks: "Oh, good idea, never thought of it" - then it might be done.
I appreciate that the changes are made with care. Even the best approvements can be bewildering when you are not used to them. And there always will be those who complain against Lichess if they encounter anything new.

@noob-schmoob
You can choose your opponents from a range from, say, 2000 to 2200. The only thing that is not possible is to say "at least rating 100 above my current rating". But that is exactly the topic of this thread.
