Fatal Mistake

nice! but then i think any line played with f4 is just too losing
I've won tons of games with f4 :D

but, White effed that one up ever since the opening

Correct theory against what transposes to the "Abbazia Defense" was 4.exd5. Instead White played 4.e5 and lost the tempo he had sacrificed his pawn on f4 to achieve to begin with.
iv'e beaten a lot of people almost the same way think white made a mistake @ 6.Ng5? allowing the queen to develop better might have been 7. e4 would have troubled the Bishop c5 and allowed the castle
(which was a good move in itself from black)
Yeah I guess you mean 7.Ng5 (not 6.Ng5, never played) and 7.d4 (not 7.e4) to trouble the c5-bishop. :D

But yeah you're right, 7.d4 was much better and would have reclaimed the pawn on f4 as well. This resulting variant of the King's Gambit gives White an open bishop file on the King's side, after
castling on that side, so that White does not have an f2 pawn in the way, blocking the power of the rook on f1. This aids in many unexpected attacks amongst even experts. :)
well corrected sir, yes thats what i meant :D
The Romford just ain't my type. I really fail to see what's so great about it, but apparently I'm alone in that.

(1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nf3 d5 is a transposition to the Romford Countergambit reached by 1.e4 e5 2.f4 d5 3.exd5 exf4 4.Nf3).

Although, both sides do have open files, and I guess the different choices as to which ones for both sides is what causes that classical pressure slowing White down from building kingside threats.
